Baluleka Z. Mavuso, 2020 Adult Winner, (Mahebehla, Hhohho)

Baluleka joined the competition as a vegetable farmer but has a wide variety of things she produces on her farm. Outside of growing vegetables like broccoli and peas, she keeps cows, chickens, keeps a backyard garden and more.
She was most excited about winning the pipes as previously water was collected far from her home. The pipes allowed her to draw water nearer to her farm. The truck she won also made production easier.
Winning the competition has opened doors for Mavuso’s business. Accessing financing and markets has become a lot easier. Her accomplishment as a woman farmer has given her greater credibility and recognition in Eswatini.
Mavuso desires to see more women enter the competition and win so they, too, may grow in their businesses. She desires seeing more women and youth farmers closing all gaps in the agricultural value chain.
