About WOFACO

The Woman Farmer Foundation prides itself in successfully hosting the annual Woman Farmer of the Year Competition since 2007. The competition is open to all woman farmers involved in agricultural enterprising throughout Eswatini. A team of selected judges visit the entrant homesteads to assess their enterprises and livelihoods. The criterion used for assessment is based on provided parameters for each enterprise and the scores distributed as follows:

  • Eighty percent (80%) quality of the Main enterprise
  • Fifteen percent (15%) Home management
  • Five percent (5%) leadership and community services

The competition has garnered major support over the years, attracting high profile guests such as Minister of Agriculture, Nedbank, FarmChem etc. Competition as created platform for women to access alternative funding, rub shoulders with high profile individuals and build the relationships/connections needed to grow their agribusinesses

Competition Rules & Regulations​

  1. The competition is open to all women and youth farmers aged 18 and above on Swazi Nation Land.                     
  2. Commercial and semi-commercial farmers, whose enterprise are within the parameters listed at the back, are eligible to participate in the competition provided the requested information is provided on the application form submitted; (forms are obtainable from the Ministry of Agriculture Offices, Constituency/ Tinkhundla centres, NAMBOARD and sponsors outlets to be announced).                                              
  3. Completed application forms must be returned to centres from which they are collected.                                          
  4. Applicants shall be required, by the panel of judges, to submit any supporting documents should there be a need. Failure to submit requested documents may result in the disqualification of the applicant.                   
  5. All submitted information, in whatever form it is submitted, shall remain confidential and utilized by the office of the Woman Farmer Foundation with utmost discreteness.

       6.1 WFF staff and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the competition.

       6.2 Judges shall be expected to disclose immediate family members partaking in the competition.                          Failure to disclose shall result in the disqualification of the participant.

  1. Competitors shall be allowed to enter the competition provided they are the proprietors or major shareholders of the farming enterprise.                                                                                                                                    
  2. Competitors shall be Swazi citizens that are official residents of the communities they reside in or are in possession of official contracts/ agreements to operate their enterprises in the given areas.                                          
  3. The applicant shall indicate her major farming enterprise, through which she enters the competition, and also indicate other farming enterprises she is engaged in.                                                                                         
  4. Competitors shall be obliged to allow for the inspection of their enterprise and related documents, as well as provide produce samples if required.                                                                                                                           
  5. Eligible competitors are expected to have been active in their enterprise for at least a year.                                               
  6. Incentive prizes shall be awarded to the top 10 of the youth and adult categories and consolation prizes will be awarded to all qualifying participants.                                                                                                                     
  7. Winners shall not convert prizes into cash nor exchange them for other goods                                                                          
  8. The judge’s decision shall be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.                                                           
  9. The first prize winner shall not be eligible to re-enter subsequent competitions.                                                                            
  10. The first prize winner shall also be required to mentor her peers during her tenure year.                                                             
  11. The closing date for the submission of application forms shall be two months after the rollout of the entry forms or otherwise announces by the office of the Woman Famer Foundation.                                                            
  12. Youths eligible to enter the Woman Farmer of The Year Competition shall be between the ages of 18- 35 years

  5. Yonkhe Imininingwane leyetfulwako, noma ngaluphi luhlobo leyetfulwa ngalo, itakugcinwa iyimfihlo. Lihhovisi laka Woman Farmer Foundation litakuyisebentisa ngalokukhulu kucophelela.

       6.1 Labasebentela lihhovisi laka WFF nemalunga ladvutane emindeni, abakavumeleki kungenela                            lomncintiswano.

       6.2 Kubhekekile kwekutsi emajaji atise lihhovisi ngemalunga ladvutane emindeni yabo langenele                             lomncintiswano. Kwehluleka kuloku kungabanga kutsi lelo lunga lemndeni lingasachudzelani                             kulomncintiswano.

  1. Bacudzelani bavumelekile kutsi bangene lomncintiswano nakungibo banikati balamabhizinisi noma ke bayincenye yebaphatsi baleyo bhizinisi.
